Good morning, neighbor.
Chris Moss, your Arlington reporter, here to bring the top stories of the week.
Arlington ISD trustees are turning to two state programs in hopes additional support and funding will help improve studentsβ math skills and boost teacher pay at struggling schools.
One of those programs, Bluebonnet math, led to a particular divide between the school board. In this weekβs top story, I bring you the debate surrounding the state lessons and the pay-for-performance program, and the reasons why trustees ultimately voted to move forward with them.
Also, in case you somehow missed the news or the roar of race cars, the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington happened over the weekend.
Reporting fellow Bianca Rodriguez-Mora, audience and engagement fellow Christine Vo and I attended and spoke with spectators about how well the event was going. Spoiler: they said it went well. You can find that story below.
